Boil one piece of aluminum with one tablespoon of baking soda and water. After the water starts boiling, you will have to drop your silverware in the pot for 10 seconds. You may keep it longer if your silverware is heavily tarnished. If the tarnish persists make yourself a thick paste made up of baking soda and two tablespoons of water. By using a sponge, spread the paste, then rinse and wash. Leave your silverware to dry.

  1. Corn Starch

The corn starch mixed with water formula will make the silver look new once again. The formula made of water and corn starch needs to be applied on a cloth and after that it needs to be rubbed on the silver. If you don`t have corn starch, you can choose tartar cream which is a great substitute.

  1. Hand sanitizer

Besides the fact that the hand sanitizer destroys germs it is a great silver polisher. Just add a few drops on a cloth and rub all of the tarnish away.

  1. Lemon-lime soda

You can simply dump your silver items in a bowl full of lime soda. You need to leave the silver items there for one hour and after that simply rinse and dry them out.

A window cleaner is another great way to clean the silverware. You will only need to put some solution on a rag and just scrub the sterling silver. By doing so, you will make the silver shine once more.

  1. Hair conditioner

Try rubbing some hair conditioner on clean silver. This will prevent it from tarnishing.

  1. Chalk

If you want to keep the silver as shiny as you want, it is a great idea to keep a few pieces of chalk near the place where you keep the silver. The chalk is known for absorbing moisture and this will prevent your silverware to tarnish.
