Let’s be real. Most homeowners do not have time to water their plants. Modern living is much busier than in the past so the best solution is almost always to get rid of the plants. Fortunately, there is an alternative. You can always choose a plant that does not require much watering.

There are countless plants that you only need to water once per month or once every 2 weeks. This includes those below. You will not kill a plant again if you choose these ones.

Ponytail Palm

The ponytail palm does look just like a green, cute ponytail. It brings in an instant tropical, fun look to a space. This is a succulent plant so it loves sunny spots. Choose the room that is the brightest in your home, if you can.

With the ponytail palm you just need to worry about watering often. If the weather is warm, you water every 2 weeks. If during winter, you water once per month.

Cast Iron Plant

These are very hardy plants that are actually really difficult to kill. They come from forests in Taiwan and Japan but are quite prevalent in many houses.

Direct sun is not appreciated so be sure you put your cast iron plants close to a window that faces north. You can water every 2 to 3 weeks and you do not need a lot of water. In fact, if you water a lot, roots are going to rot.

Aloe Plant

Aloe is known for its skin care uses, the plant is a very good succulent for homeowners that often forget to water. It does need a little bit of sun but only 2 to 3 hours per day. During summer, watering is needed once every week. In winter you can simply water 2 times per month.

Money Tree

The belief is that a money tree plant brings luck if you display it at home. Basically, you get success and money. While this is all about personal belief, there is nothing to debate that the plant thrives when placed in indirect light. You can simply water it 2 times per month and does look cool.

Snake Plant

The snake plant is sometimes mentioned as “mother-in-law’s tongue” and is very tough. It came from Africa and is right now gaining popularity. Its soil needs to be dry before you water and there are many cases in which you just need to water once per 6 weeks. In addition, snake plant tolerates absolutely all light types.

String Of Pearl

This really pretty succulent features cascading greenery and prefers indirect, bright light. You can even grow it with fluorescent light. Watering is needed 2 times per month and the plant does hate overwatering. Even less water is needed during winter.
